Jel began building websites when most people didn't have the internet at home, or an email address. Dial up days! The technology has changed greatly since 2000 however, the purpose of a simple website, for many businesses, has not.
Starting in the UK with JeliNet UK, then moving back to NZ and creating JeliNet NZ, he has designed & built hundreds of websites. JeliNet worked both as a direct design/build service to clients and as a white-label service suppling website builds for many agencies. Over the years end-clients have ranged from Universal Music Group, Warner Music Group and EMI Classical through to Motorola, De La Rue and Facebook. Big names yes however, equally important were all the everyday website clients from accountants, mortgage advisers and builders to sports clubs, schools and health centres.
Jel designed and built bespoke Wordpress websites, which got complex quickly and needed ongoing security maintenance. They were also more expensive to work on than simple html sites when making design changes. Over time he noticed many clients never did site content updates, let alone security maintenance updating plugins and core Wordpress software. Eventually the sites became security risks or simply stopped working.
He still builds Wordpress sites but only for his own businesses.
JeliNet stopped taking on new clients in 2023 partly to persue other business interests and partly due to the time required to design and build complex modern websites. Returning now as Simple Websites NZ is a better fit.

Prior to a career in web building, Jel was an electronics technician in high-reliability industries including aerospace (satellite instruments and planetary landers), automotive R&D (Bugatti Veyron transmission computers) and defence training systems. Besides web work, Jel is a music producer running studio109.co.nz and is kept busy looking after a life-style property in rural Ohaupo.
